4 New Genre Shows To Check Out In 2014

Television is becoming just as good, if not better than movies when it comes to horror and supernatural-themed entertainment.  Here are four new genre shows that are starting in 2014 and worth checking out, complete with the premiere times, channel, actors and description of the show itself.  And you can also check out the trailers for each, and every, show.

 

Penny Dreadful (March on Showtime) – Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett

Some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula become embroiled in Victorian London.

 

The Strain (July on FX) – Sean Astin, Mia Maestro, Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Kevin Durand

Based after Chuck Hogan and Guillermo del Toro’s novel series of the same name, comes a  battle of mammoth proportions that breaks out as a vampiric virus that has infected New York begins to spill out into the streets, and a motley crew of fighters must now find a way to stop the contagion and save the city before it is too late.

 

Believe (Early 2014 on NBC) – Rob Morgan, Jake McLaughlin, Johnny Sequoyah

Believe, created by Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón, is about an unlikely relationship between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power.

 

Helix  (January on SyFy) – Billy Campbell, Jordan Hayes, Hiroyuki Sanada

A team of scientists investigates a possible disease outbreak.
