‘Evil Dead’ TV Series Starring Bruce Campbell Coming to Starz in 2015
Bruce Campbell has been talking about a potential sequel to the third entry in the Evil Dead series, Army of Darkness, for years now and, like most fans, I figured the talk was all well and good but that it would never become a reality. I was right in one sense, but completely wrong in another. Why? Well, Evil Dead is coming back and it will star Bruce Campbell, but this time it’s as a television series.
The powers at be over at premium cable channel Starz have picked up the series aptly titled Ash vs. Evil Dead for a ten episode run in 2015. Each episode will be a half hour long and the pilot will be directed by Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi. Raimi will write the series along with his brother Ivan and Tom Spezialy (TV’s Chuck). Bruce Campbell himself will executive produce the series alongside Sam Raimi and his longtime collaborator Rob Tapert.
Sam Raimi himself had this to say on the series: “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”
I honestly couldn’t be more excited and the prospect of an older Ash wielding his trusty shotgun against the deadites once more sounds too good to be true. Thankfully, it is. 2015 can’t come soon enough.
