Guillermo del Toro Teams Up With YouTube & Legendary for Halloween Short Film Contest
The folks over at Variety have broken news of an exciting new opportunity for YouTube filmmakers this Halloween season. “YouTube House of Horrors: A Legendary Halloween” is a contest, formed from a partnership between YouTube and Legendary Entertainment, that has set out to give filmmakers the opportunity of a lifetime by collaborating with iconic filmmaker Guillermo del Toro on their own short horror films.
Basically, starting September 22nd, filmmakers with YouTube channels will have the chance to use various already-built sets located in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo and New York City to produce their own horror shorts. Del Toro will then select his favorites from each location and serve as a creative consultant for these filmmakers. These shorts will then stream on the filmmaker’s personal YouTube channel, Legendary’s YouTube channel, and the YouTube Spaces (the company behind these already-built set locations) channel when they become available starting October 21st. The individual who is then named the winner will get the opportunity to work with Legendary on turning their short into a feature film or a digital series.
The deadline for the contest isn’t until October 27th, but you can check out Guillermo del Toro’s video introduction to the contest right here, right now and find out more on how to sign-up.
