Horror Filmmaker Scott Derrickson Set To Helm Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’
In news that is sure to get both the horror community and the Marvel fanboys talking, horror filmmaker Scott Derrickson is officially set to direct Doctor Strange for the folks over at Marvel. This news comes courtesy of the folks over at Variety, and I for one think it is quite the inspired choice.
Derrickson broke through with his feature directorial debut, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, back in 2005 and has since go on to helm one of the better horror films in recent years, 2012’s Ethan Hawke-starring Sinister. His next horror film, Deliver Us From Evil, is set for release July 2nd.
The titular Doctor Strange made his debut all the way back in the 1963 comic-book series “Strange Tales” and would eventually go on to have a series of his own. While no timetable is set just yet for the release of Doctor Strange, we will no doubt know more once our hero is officially cast. Adrien Brody anyone?
In the meantime, stay tuned here at Morbidly Amusing for all updates Strange. Below you can check out a pic Derrickson himself posted to Twitter a little over a half hour ago confirming the news.
