Insidious 3 In The Works
Fresh on the heels of Insidious: Chapter 2‘s surprisingly massive opening weekend box office haul comes the news that a third chapter in the Insidious series is already in the works. Like the first two, this third film will be written by Leigh Whannell. There is no word yet on whether director James Wan will return, but if you’ve been following at all the recent string of comments made by Wan, you’d consider a return unlikely. Wan has personally stated that he’s looking to branch out from the horror genre and is currently at work filming the seventh entry in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Despite middling reviews for Insidious: Chapter 2, the film grossed $41.1 million dollars on its opening weekend which is the largest ever for a live-action film in the month of September. It’s gross is second all-time in September, just behind last year’s Hotel Transylvania. It’s safe to say that if a low-budget horror film is making this much money, the studios are going to milk it for all it’s worth.
