The long history of Christmas-themed horror films is about to welcome a new entry, and it hails from the genius mind behind classic horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat.

Writer-director Michael Dougherty is back with Krampus, a film that centers on a dysfunctional family whose Christmas couldn’t be going any worse. When young Max decides to turn his back on the holiday, he unleashes a demonic presence set on punishing those who don’t believe in Christmas cheer.

The first trailer has dropped for Krampus, providing evidence that much like Trick ‘r Treat, Dougherty is focused on scaring his audience and making them laugh in equal measure.

Krampus will hit theaters everywhere December 4th. Check out the trailer below.
