When Edgar Wright first stepped down from the director’s chair of Marvel’s Ant-Man, the internet, including myself, was rightfully up in arms. Wright is a visionary filmmaker who has proven himself in taking seemingly insane concepts and making them inventive and entertaining films with a heavy-dose of heart. Peyton Reed (Bring It On) took over the directorial reigns shortly after he stepped down and now Marvel has dropped the first trailer to give us an idea of his vision.
Marvel’s Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a con-man who is taken under the wing of Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who created a special suit that allows its wearer to shrink in size. Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Michael Pena round out the cast.
If this first trailer is any indication, Ant-Man may prove to be yet another fascinatingly original Marvel film in line with last Summer’s fantastic Guardians of the Galaxy. And let’s face it, any film that stars Paul Rudd as a superhero is gonna put my butt in a seat.
Ant-Man hits theaters everywhere July 17th.
