Michael Keaton Confirms ‘Beetlejuice 2’ Talks With Tim Burton

Michael Keaton, during a recent interview for his latest film Robocop, revealed to MTV that he has been speaking with Tim Burton about making Beetlejuice 2.  He said that the sequel is getting closer to becoming a reality.

This is what Keaton had to say, “I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that [Beetlejuice] is the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another. Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away, we’ve talked to each other, and emailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”

Winona Rider, in November, hinted that she was possibly working on a sequel to Beetlejuice. Rider said, “I’m kind of sworn to secrecy, but it sounds like it might be happening. It’s 27 years later, and I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later.”

With the amount of lame remakes out there, I think that I would be very welcoming to seeing an official sequel after all these years, especially if all the original pieces are involved.  I was always a big fan of Michael Keaton and believe that he did his best work with Tim Burton.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Keaton will ever have another chance to don the cape of Batman, so I would truly love to see him play the iconic role of Beetlejuice again.  Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
