Jerome Sable makes his feature film debut with the slasher musical Stage Fright, which is set to make its world premiere next week at the South by Southwest Film Festival. Sable was previously responsible for the Fantastic Fest award winner in 2010 for Best Horror Short for The Legend of Beaver Dam.
The film centers on a teenager Camilla Swanson, who desperately wants to become a Broadway superstar, just like her deceased mother. After landing a role in a play she comes face-to-face with the dark side of musical theatre, when a masked murderer targets her and her fellow cast members. The film co-stars Minnie Driver and Meatloaf.
Stage Fright well be released On Demand on April 3rd, courtesy of Magnet Releasing, followed by a limited theatrical release on May 9th. You can check out the gory new Red Band trailer for Stage Fright below. I’m all for new, original slasher films, so I will have to check this film out when it is released.
