Filmmaker Christopher Nolan made his first ever appearance at Comic-Con this past week and brought with him not just actor Matthew McConaughey, but also the latest trailer for his new film, Interstellar. In the film, McConaughey stars as Cooper, a man who must leave his family behind and travel into deep space in order to save the world via the use of a newly discovered wormhole.
What I find most exciting about this newest trailer is not the reveal of these new, alien worlds, but rather its specific focus on character and emotion. If there’s been one complaint about Nolan as a filmmaker over the years, it has been his over-reliance on plot and this trailer should really calm the fears of those expecting yet another Nolan film lacking in the character and emotion department. Interstellar also looks to provide us with yet another powerful McConaughey performance which, let’s face it, isn’t exactly groundbreaking after the past few years of the McConaissance.
Interstellar will hit theaters everywhere November 7th and also stars Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Mackenzie Foy, Topher Grace, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow and David Oyelowo. Check out the epic new trailer below.
