Nicolas Winding Refn’s Next Film Will Be All-Female Horror ‘I Walk with the Dead’
Nicolas Winding Refn’s last film, the Ryan Gosling vehicle Only God Forgives, was one of the more divisive films of 2013, but if there’s one thing you can count on Refn for it’s his refusal to let any form of criticism get in his way. It’s with that in mind that we come bearing the news of Refn’s next directorial effort, the horror film I Walk with the Dead.
It’s a film that has been in the works for a few years now, although it was never made official until this morning when Refn took to Twitter to confirm I Walk With the Dead as his next feature. Refn’s tweet simply states: “The silence has been broken my next film will be I WALK WITH THE DEAD shooting in LA.”
The film will be written by Polly Stenham and while specific details about the film are scarce, the film was once set to star the fantastic Carey Mulligan, who Refn worked with on Drive, as the centerpiece of an all-female cast.
If that’s not enough Refn for you, below you can watch him introduce a Cannes screening of a restored version of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that took place just last month. His effusive praise for the in-attendance Hooper is no doubt a highlight.
