Let’s face it, all good horror fans come from somewhere and there’s no question that a good number of us grew up collecting many in R.L. Stine’s beloved horror-tinged book series Goosebumps. Previously adapted for the small screen and sporting early roles for many well-known actors today (Ryan Gosling!), the news has come down the pipeline that the people behind the previously announced big-screen adaptation of the series are in talks with none other than Jack Black for the starring role. The Wrap reports that Black would play ‘a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations.’ I shudder to think what creatures they’ve decided to center on for the film, but I know if Slappy the living dummy is among them my childhood nightmares may just make a comeback.

The Goosebumps film adaptation currently has Rob Letterman in the director’s chair, who previously worked with Black on Gulliver’s Travels and Shark Tale.
