Deadline has reported that cult classic 80s slasher film Sleepaway Camp is the latest horror property to be getting a reboot. Jeff Katz, former New Line exec who horror fans may recognize as one of the main forces behind Freddy vs. Jason, has optioned the rights to the series and plans to produce a new film alongside the original’s writer-director Robert Hiltzik.

This news comes with the announcement by Shout Factory that they plan to release a Blu-ray of the original Sleepaway Camp this coming Spring.
