Sundance-Winning Horror Flick ‘The Witch’ Brings the Dread in First Trailer

Back at Sundance it took audiences breath away, and now the first trailer is here just to make sure that when you lay down for bed tonight, there’s that lingering sense of unease that you just can’t shake.

The Witch is a colonial-set indie horror film about a devout Christian family living in New England in the year 1630. When the newborn son of this family mysteriously vanishes they all begin to unravel, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil.

The film comes from writer-director Robert Eggers, who took home the Directing Award at Sundance. Not too shabby for a guy making his directorial debut.

Check out the haunting trailer below. The Witch is currently set for release sometime in 2016.
