‘Tales From The Darkside’ Resurrected As A Reboot On The CW

A huge part of my childhood, especially on influencing my love of the horror genre, came from Sci-Fi Channel’s afternoon block of programming that included: Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, The Night Gallery and Tales From the Darkside. I loved my anthology shows and they were a fantastic entry way into the great world of all things horror.

The CW, home of Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, has announced that they are working on updating the series and bringing it to television as early as Summer 2014.  The original was created by George Romero, and aside from the twist endings, there were no wrap arounds to tie the episodes together.

Thankfully the update has some good talent behind it.  Joe Hill (Locke & Key) is writing the pilot, which will be executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Sleepy Hollow, Fringe), and Heather Kadin and Jerry Golod, who both produced the original series.  Hopefully this show will open the door to other anthology revivals… like say, Tales From The Crypt.
