‘The Best There Ever Was’ Concept Trailer Reveals Leatherface’s Origin Story

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise has had a handful of sequels to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic that have told further stories of Leatherface and his twisted family, a reboot in 2003, which got its own prequel a few years later and most recently, this year’s Texas Chainsaw 3D disregarded the remake and its prequel and picked up directly after the events of Leatherface’s original outing.

So, what’s next for good ole Leatherface?  Well, one fan has taken it upon himself to start from the beginning.  The director of the concept trailer The Best There Ever Was, Derek Cole described his short as, ”a promotional trailer for a prequel to the original 1974 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The story is centered around the Grandpa from the original film but he is much younger and Bubba Sawyer (leatherface) is just a kid. The movie will be based on how the Grandpa raised young Bubba to be who he is going to be.”
