With The Conjuring taking the box office by storm this past summer, it’s no surprise that there are sequels and spin-offs in the works. Thanks to The Wrap, it now looks like we know what the first spin-off will be. Annabelle, a film centering on the possessed doll the Warrens have in their possession, is now a go at New Line. It is set to be directed by The Conjuring cinematographer John Leonetti, with a script from Gary Dauberman. The low-budget horror film is set to star Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton while the original’s director James Wan will serve as executive producer.

While unnecessary spin-offs and sequels are as prevalent in the horror genre as any, here’s hoping this one proves to be worthwhile. If the creepiness factor of the Annabelle doll is anything to go by, I’ll be clutching my movie theater chair come its release.
