My mother hates horror movies with a passion.  She also loves Killer Klowns from Outer Space.  The story functions in much the same way as The Blob, except without the gelatinous death ball and with evil Killer Klowns instead.  The fact that even a non-horror fan can find enjoyment in this schlock-fest is reason enough for it to make The Halloween Hit List.  If you’re spending the night with your horror hating wife or young children, fire up the popcorn and stick in this carnival classic.  It also features candy weapons, such as the Cotton Candy cocoon gun.

The story centers around a cop, his girlfriend and two inept friends who drive an Ice Cream truck, and whose town is invaded by… well Killer Klowns from Outer Space.  The design of the creatures is stellar here and they are very creepy, especially one Klown who tries to abduct a child from a store.  The death scenes are hilarious as we get death by shadow puppets, humans being turned into puppets, popcorn, cotton candy and greatest of all… acid-filled cream pies.  The imagination at work in this film is truly mesmerizing, especially considering its small budget.

Try not to smile while introducing Killer Klowns to someone that has never seen it before. I dare you. It’s not possible. It also has the special distinction of being the only PG-13 film to make it on The Halloween Hit List, so bring the entire family.  If my mom can find this film entertaining, then just about anyone can.
