‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Director’s Christmas Horror Film ‘Krampus’ Coming November 2015
Most of us here at Morbidly Amusing are pretty big fans of Michael Dougherty’s 2007 horror film Trick ‘r Treat. It’s one of the few horror releases that has actually captured the spirit of the Halloween season to great effect and re-watching it has become a tradition for me every October. While Dougherty is currently in the process of working on the script for the previously announced Trick ‘r Treat 2, his next film will have him taking on yet another holiday.
Krampus takes on the ancient legend of a demon who sets out to punish naughty people during the Christmas season. Dougherty will direct the Legendary Pictures film from a script written by Todd Casey (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and newcomer Zach Shields (one half of Dead Man’s Bones, the horror-tinged musical duo fronted by Ryan Gosling).
Universal (Legendary’s parent company) has officially set Krampus for release on November 25, 2015. Here’s hoping it ends up being even half as fun as Trick ‘r Treat.
