Frank Castle is officially back.

The gun-toting uber-violent anti-hero known simply as The Punisher will finally be joining his compatriots in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel officially announced today that actor Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Fury) has been cast as Castle for the second season of Netflix’s fantastic Daredevil series.

Honestly, this is pitch-perfect casting. Bernthal has the intensity and an underlying dark edge that’s necessary to properly portray The Punisher, and the prospect of seeing him come face-to-face with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is just mouth-watering.

Marvel’s Daredevil returns to Netflix in 2016.
